I think if you’re relatively active on checking your social media or sports news, you’ve probably heard of Lavar Ball. What’s even worse is that you only know his name and you don’t know the names of any of his children. But that’s not your fault, that’s Lavar’s fault. Now this guy and his family have made headlines for the past couple months for reasons both right and wrong.
He’s gone on record claiming that he can beat basketball G.O.A.T. Michael Jordan 1 on 1, got caught up in a feud with shit talking entertainment G.O.A.T. Charles Barkley, and most recently got caught up in the headlines with LeBron James. Sports media is having a field day by just feeding off his words, so let’s give Lavar some credit for that.
But what’s really going on is that he’s slightly overshadowing his son right now who just led No. seed UCLA to a Sweet 16 appearance. This kid is in line to be potentially the top draft pick of the 2017 NBA draft, but a lot of people don’t seem to care as much anymore because shit keeps spewing from his father’s mouth.
I’m not sure if he’s trying to be the next celebrity father of the basketball Kardashians, but if he is, he might be on the right track. But we need to do our part as responsible social media sheep and not Lavar become the next Caitlyn Jenner, piggybacking off and then overshadowing his young children’s accomplishments by making his own shocking announcements.
